Stanton Surgery’s Pharmacy Application – the Facts

The practice would like to correct some inaccurate statements made in this month’s Stanton Steamer by stating the following facts:

• The practice has made an application to open a pharmacy

• The purpose of making this application is to protect the dispensing service at Stanton Surgery from compulsorily having to cease if a corporate pharmacy chain or independent pharmacy makes a successful application to open in the village

• If the application is successful, patients of Ixworth, Botesdale and Woolpit surgeries who live in Stanton will still be able to obtain their medication from their own practice

• This is because all three of the other surgeries have already made successful applications to run their own pharmacies from their own premises

• If the application is successful, patients will not notice any change in the way their medication is dispensed from the surgery

• If the application is unsuccessful, dispensing services at Stanton Surgery will be protected from corporate or independent pharmacies opening for the next five years

Prescription Delivery Service Launch

Our new prescription delivery service from the Stanton surgery for all registered patients has been launched. We are able to deliver to collection points at the post office in Hopton, Barningham and Garboldisham. If you feel that you may be eligible for this service our Dispensary staff will be able to advise you - 01359 253701

STATEMENT OF INTENT

Our Practice is committed to develop the delivery of better care to our patients utilising the Information Technology developed through and under the direction of NHS England. We currently use Summary Care Record, GP2GP Transfer and Patient Access Online for appointments, repeat medication requests and viewable summary care record. The Practice is committed to include detailed coded information as part of the Patient Access Online facility by 31st March 2016.

 


ONLINE REPEAT PRESCRIPTION ORDERING

We have enabled the prescription ordering module on our integrated online service so that our patients can access their medical records, book/cancel GP appointments and order repeat medications all from ONE system.

Our dispensing team will provide you with the details on how to use the new system. Please bring a piece of photo ID with you to enable us to confirm your identity when setting up your account. This is because the new system is directly linked to your medical record and the Practice must take necessary steps to ensure that access is being given to the correct person for data protection reasons.

red_pills_bottleMedicines are supplied from the surgery for patients living more than one mile from a pharmacy. We cannot make up prescriptions issued elsewhere except from a dentist or the hospital and then only for patients registered at the practice.

Payment must be cash or cheque backed by a cheque guarantee card.

Repeat Prescriptions

We have a computerised prescribing system and your regular medication is printed on the slip given to you with your repeat medication. We require 48 hours notice for repeat prescriptions excluding Saturdays and Sundays and a 28 day supply is issued.

You can request a repeat directly from the website or present your repeat prescription side slip in person or by post. You can contact the Dispensary team on 01359 253701, however, they are unable to take calls between 12:30 - 2:30pm. Finally you may subscribe to the repeat prescribing scheme. 

Sometimes you will be asked to see a doctor or nurse before any more repeat prescriptions are given. This is to ensure that the medication is still the right one for you. If you have difficulty collecting your medicines from the surgery we are able to leave your medication for collection at village pick up points in exceptional circumstances.
